I know, not that exciting, but I'm expecting a couple different packages and this totally caught me off guard because I just placed the order yesterday and it wasn't overnighted. :coold:

 but :hs:. I was thinking after I posted this, maybe a year or two from now I could reminisce and bring up this old thread and be like "Wow guys, remember that time I ordered 4 30-round capacity magazines for an AK and all it took was 60 bucks and 2 days for shipping.

:hs: Hopefully they'll get grandfathered in.

I've had good luck with them too. About this time last year they had a dozen AK-74 mags for about 65 bucks I think which was a damn good deal. I haven't paid more than $8 per AK mag but I don't think I'll be seeing any more of that price anytime soon. I don't have any plum ones so I might get a 4-pack of these next time I order another 74 kit.

I got four dozen with the sportsmans guide lottery. something like $3 shipped per mag or something crazy cheap. I got a Fleur DeLis out of it as well.

Yeah, sometimes on the AK boards people will sell 'em a little cheaper but they usually go pretty quickly.

I'd like to get some of the standard orange-ish bakelites, and maybe a steel mag or two just to try out different styles and see which I like best.

The East German bakelites are nice. I didn't like them at first but they make great range mags. They are a little thicker which is fine by me. I like having them lock up tight and not wobbling around.

The thing I like about the polymer and bakelite mags is they won't dent like steel mags, they don't get burning hot from sitting in the sun, and they are a lot lighter. Most of them are all steel lined too so they should be just as durable.

Yeah the german ones are great I got a ton of them when they were cheap NIW and used, and even the beat to shit ones function flawless. If you dont like the orange get a can of krylon.

I know a few days ago when I was trying to decide between 5.45 and 7.62 I said I didn't like the bakelites, but they've definately grown on me. :o

I hated them too but I think they look great now. I just picked up a couple more the other day that exatcly match the handguard and pistol grip on my Tantal. That's what's important right? :hsugh:

This one doesn't match but it still looks good imo.

I like the looks of that brake/comp. I wonder how much it would cost to get my barrel threaded. :o I want to have a bigass muzzle flash though, does the brake hide it at all or is still just as fiery?

 At all the mismatched wood.

:squint: it's all bakelite and the upper handguard is brown plastic. I'm leaving it how it is because that's how they came from the factory in Poland.

If you want a big ass flash get an AMD-65 muzzle brake. My AMD-65 is a fucking flame thrower. I don't have any pics of mine but here's someones I found online.

I have a feeling part of that is because AMDs are SBRd aren't they? Would just the brake really do that much for me? And where can I buy one? And how much would it cost to get my barrel threaded? :o

AMD is under 16" barrel but with that brake permanently attached its not a SBR.

I stole the av from someone else, the full size is in the thread somewhere.
    http://forums.offtopic.com/showthread.php?t=3650672

So noone answered my question yet, will that muzzle brake really make the flash bigger, or is it just with the AMD rifle because of its design? And how much would it cost and how easy is it to get an AK barrel threaded.

I have 74 brakes on most of my 5.45 rifles more flash then w/o. For threading they use to be sending a tool around on arfcom and akforums to thread it yourself think it was like $30 to rent it dunno if thats still going on. Don't know what a smith would charge, KVar also sells new romy FSB's that are threaded.

You're probably not going to get a whole lot of flash with 5.45 and a 16 barrel. Krinks have a fair amount of flash but nothing compared to a SBR in 7.62x39.

Squid had a good idea about the threaded FSB. That will be easy to change and probably cheaper and more authentic.

I'm confused about how the barrel is assembled now. I assumed the FSB just slid over the barrel. So what's involved in installing a new one? This sounds like an okay idea to me because my front sight is slightly canted, anyway.
