if i hear one more "personal trainer" (term used loosely) tell a female trainee that she should be careful how much weight she lifts to make sure she doesn't get bulky or "too muscular," i'm going to start chuckin' dumbbells :rant2:

ok, i'm done... sorry bout that...

believe it or not the ones who really know their shit have a hard time dumbing down the routines and programs for the average joe. I had a hard time because people were just looking to tone up and i would have them squatting and doing plate pinches their first day. :o In the end I just stopped training people unless they were competitive lifters or athletes. If you look at most great and innovative strength coaches, they don't come from 24 hr. fitness. All you have to do to work at a place like that is pass a test on the archives of the last ten years of muscle and fitness.

No shit. I was watching the "trainer" tonight at the gym tonight with one of his clients and I could spot at least 3 big no-nos while the guy was doing squats and I've not trained anyone in 3 or 4 years.

for the first few days, i "trained" my ex how to lift properly. shes got it down by now. i recommended her 8-10 reps on the dead/squat/bench and 15+ on other lifts.

she told me she doesnt want to get all bulky and muscular as well but i told her she wont as long her diet and exercise is well put.
