Many have often asked the question of how to transport a number of firearms and magazines to the range.

I just wanted to share my solution.

Below are the Pelican 1510 and the 1560. First are the factory Pelican pictures, and then there are my photos to show ease of transport.

Sadly, I can only accomodate 12 handguns in the Pelican 1560 (however, there is one more slot I need to do in the spare space). I either need new foam and need to try another method, or I need to get another case. And, as far as the magazine carrier (1510) goes, there are more mags, but the guns in the safe all have 1 mag each.

  2. Yes, I often have a problem being able to bring only 12 handguns to the range.

I don't get to go too often, and when I do, I spend a while. Usually it isn't a "traditional" range. It's oftentimes a friend's field. However if I do go indoors, then that's fine, too. I'll just do handguns, and no rifles.

I'll easily spend 3-5 hours shooting.

A good session usually involves about 15-18 handguns, and 5-7 long guns. Sucks that it is SO expensive now. :wtc:

Skeet/trap/clays is for another time and another place. :noes:

  6. I wouldn't want to deal with cleaning all those guns. Even when I shoot at my parents' cabin I rarely bring more than 4 guns.

FWIW i use a Pelican 1510 for my weekly travel for work. After 18 months it's still going strong. It gets strapped in the bed of my truck, ran thru carwashes, and keeps going.

I actually meant to get another 1560 w/ the dividers, but was too damned lazy to look at my other case and check the number.

The 1510 arrived today, and I was like, "This thing seems smaller..."

I went to retrieve my other case...and, sure enough, right there in big numbers "1560".

Oh well. I'm happy with the 1510 ultimately. While it is smaller, it will do the job (for now). :x:

I like the idea of at least 4 per handgun.

However, I only have one each for my mouseguns: Tomcat, Bobcat, P32. That's fine with me. I may seek one or two more for the Tomcat, though.

The only other gun I'm down mags on is the Mosquito. The mags are just so damned expensive! :greddy:

I generally bring 2 guns with me when I go to shoot.

There are some exceptions like when going with friends or when we are going for a day blasting my roomates land.

FWIW, the 1510 is sized to be TSA approved for carry on use.

Yeah, I read that. Could actually come in handy for trips. However, when I'm out of the country, I don't know if I would want to carry the Pelican with me and leave it in motel rooms.

Hate to have the damn thing stolen. :eek4:
