Well, just finished cleaning my 91/30 (and making some noodles), and I thought I would do a range report.

Me and hossb7 brought two guns to the range today, his 10/22 and my 91/30, it was about 48ish degrees, but windy, so it was kinda cold. Lots of fun shooting the Mosin, anybody that doesnt have one should get one, if for nothing else than the ammo is cheaper than any modern stuff could be. Lots of recoil, but it shoots straight (though a little to the right), and lots of fun. On the other hand, either we got a bad batch of federal .22, or it sucks in general, because niether of us could put a complete 10 round mag through the ruger without it stove piping. We dont think it is the gun or the mags, since they have worked perfectly in the past.

cliffs: 91/30 = big boom, slightly sore shoulder; federal .22 ammo = shit.

actually, federal 22 is the only 22 ammo I'll buy.. never ever had a problem.

    remington is another story.

and of course, some guns are picky

Use a screwdriver and gently whack the front sight post on the Mosin in increments until you get it on center :o

    I used a key :o

Before you go whacking the sites around, try putting the bayonet on. I believe those guns were sighted in with the bayo on, so that would send the bullet off to the side if it wasn't there.

I've always had good luck with CCI Blazer as plinking .22 ammo. But lately all the 10/22 sees is Aguila SSS.

i dont know what was up with the federal. as of now, the 10/22 has about 1000 rounds of CCI through it, and 550 round of remington. no errors until today, where i had about 4-5 stove pipers per mag (10 rounds). :dunno:

Nope, just that small metal post. There's actually a hole in the sight hood and a tool somewhere for $20 to adjust it, but fuck that :o

I think that's the case for the M44, never heard it for the 91/30.
