Wanted to get some input on these.

1 I know its bright, but there are actually little to no blown highlights. Only one small speck on his shoulder was actually blown out.

2 wondering if the soft focus was a deal breaker on this one

4 same as one... bright but nothing is truly blown out.

5 shooting at F5 I did not expect the DOF to be so shallow.

    1 and 4 seem a little blownout/overexposed for me.
I wish 7 were blownout. I'm sending you a tweezer, dude.
    2 seems OOF
5 face is slightly OOF as the hat brim is the focal point.

    photos look pretty soft

but I'd like 6 a lot more if you got down to his eye level, or at least a little lower.

2 focus is TOO soft... just flat out oof.

5 How zoomed in on this one are you? it's not a DoF issue, you're focused on the brim of his hat.

    3 is my personal favorite.

On 5 I was at 70mm, f5. The hat brim is less than 1/4 of an inch thick... I would have thought Id have had more dof, apparently not.

    7... Ya I dont shave much :)

2-5 you need to open up that shutter speed a bit more to bring in some of the ambient light... how they are now just have that bad on flash camera look to them.

    I'll try that.

Anyone got any tips on balancing the off camera lighting to the ambient?
