I have a pc3200 stick of 512 mb ddr ram in my comp with 3 more open slots for expansion. Ive heard some ppl say they run 2 sticks in dual channel mode. What exactly is dual channel mode and if i decide to get another stick of 512mb ddr, do i need to put it in the slot next to the ram on the mother board or does it matter?

First, your motherboard has to support dual channel mode. What dual channel does is it will double the about of data throughput of the memory. Your 3200 memory has a throughput of 3.2 GB/sec and dual channel would make it 6.4 GB/sec. It's not faster, but it will transfer more information each time. Usuall you would put your first stick in slot 1 and the second in slot 3. That's the way mine is.
