I've been getting a common error in a game I play. After running through the tests, the only possibility I have left is a possibility of "bad" ram. Supposedly the game can bring up errors in lesser quality ram that otherwise wouldn't show during other types of games / everyday use. So I'm going to buy some new ram to see if that is it. The only problem is I don't know what companies make good quality ram. Right now I have GSkill http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231122 Where does that fall on the quality scale? What would be a good brand to upgrade to?

    What error?

You won't find much difference in manufacturers of RAM.

Could be a number of things.

Check for all driver updates(video, chipset, etc), download memtest 86 and burn the ISO to CD. Boot to it to see if it passes/fails.

You ran memtest from a bootable cd?

Dont use any hardware testing software within windows.

Memory should not be the issue. Scan for malware?

The thing that I've been reading is that WoW is so ram intensive that subpar ram won't cut it. The ram won't show up as bad in a memtest, but it can't handle the load WoW puts on it. I don't know though.

I'm going try something that someone else had fix it for them. Swap the ram from slot 2 to slot 3. We'll see.

    :hsugh:

    WoW nerds are not techs.

If your RAM passes multiple tests, its probably fine.

    That ram is not "subpar".

See, I don't know. That's why I'm asking. I'm just relaying what I've been reading.

But what makes you think WoW nerds wouldn't be techs? :hsugh: It's not far fetched to think that someone who plays on a computer 24/7 might have a job fixing them.

I'm not saying they don't know how to fix them, i'm saying most of them do the same as you, and read forums hoping for an answer to just be spit out.
