My last ram purchase was 4 years ago for bleeding edge pc2100.

I recently began purchasing new equipment and I am at the ram stage now - my motherboard - Abit AN8-Ultra - accepts DDR400 with dual channel and all that good stuff.

I was browsing Newegg and found these two items:
CORSAIR XMS 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit System Memory - Retail
    Timing TCCD 2-2-2-5

    price: $183.00
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145522

    and this:
mushkin XP3200 Dual Pack 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit System Memory - Retail
    Timing 2-2-2

    price: $165.89
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820146355#DetailSpecs

I am quite confused on the timing side of things - I mean, I remember way back when SD 100 ram had a timing of 2 or 3 - it was pretty much that simple. Now there are all these numbers - which ones are better to have lower? why is there 4 on the corsair and 3 on the mushkin?...

any help is appreciated! also if you have some suggestions on different ram - please share! or any links to better prices [IMG]

price wise - the lower the better. 180 would be my absolute top spending price for ram.

I have two sticks of 512 PC3500 DDR2. I'm very satisfied with them, my computer is rock solid and fast. I'm gonna upgrade to 2 gigs before long of the same stuff. I'll look for a link.

    DO NOT get the DDR2.

why do people recommend stuff when its incompatible??

And as for the ram there, both have TCCD/TCC3 ram chips, and I believe both are on the Brainpower PCB. So going with either will work just fine.
