How far do you mobile guys go for a job?

I've got a 25 mile radius locked down with two decent sized cities. As a minimum I only do wash/vacs with at least two vehicles, but will gladly do any other package level within my territory. My 'competition' is advertising $10-15 quickies, and $40-75 waxes. Including travel, gas, supplies- they pull in $15/HR at the most and maybe $5/HR for a basic wash/vac.

Lately I've been getting calls from 50 miles each way and two hours drive round trip. I'm all over it if it's a full day's work (multiples, paint correction, RV, etc)- but anything less and I turn them away. Had a customer call about his dealer prep'd G35 who wanted to spend $150 to get my mid level package- but he was too far away and used the words 'perfect' and 'meticulous'. I'd spend as much time on the road as I would working and knew that with travel time included I'd go from $40-50 per hour down to $20-25.

So what size area do you serve? In either terms of miles or time.

Add a trip charge and a minimum amount of $$ per job past a 20 mile one way drive.

I go down to Austin (400 mile round trip) but I make sure what I charge covers the hotel and food while I am there. They usually have a lot of work for me.

That's what I told this guy today, I either need multiple vehicles or a full day's commitment.

Recommended getting his co workers in on it, or upgrading his package.

He offered me $10 extra, to go 50 more miles and an extra hour. But now I've got a Corvette Z06 w/ HRE wheels in his timeslot

Scott, where are you based out of? I have a red Suburban in Houston that needs interior loving and a pass on the outside.

Houston is a 500 mile round trip. I'd need several cars and have to charge enough extra (spread out over all) to cover food and lodging.
