Just hoping those god rays are actually rendered and not just part of the sky texture.

It would not be worth it. To generate a cloud then have enough lighting and particle effects to make it look good wouldn't be hard at all but it would take up all your resources. It's a waste of time when a skybox like this will work perfectly fine.

    Shit looks bomb.

To me, id love to see fallout done with this engine if it was fleshed out a bit to handle all the items / dialog / etc that is a requirement for fallout.

Watching the trailer they dropped on friday, it kinda looked like fallout 3 in my mind should have.

Either way, im excited for id and this new engine. Ive been a supporter of their work for ages now and id love to see them get back in the mix with a contender for what epic has to offer engine wise ( everyone is using the unreal engine, not that thats a bad thing, i just like variety yanno? )

Gonna be rad. But like usual, itll take a monster rig to run this shit. Too bad i dont game on PC. But this might make me upgrade at least my video card.

Not so sure. This new engine is being optimized to run at 60fps on lowly consoles it should run on PCs decently unless you're pushing some crazy high res

So this game is pretty much Fallout 3 without the RPG elements? That's what a trailer video gave me the impression of... looks much better than Bethesda's F3 engine though. I'll probably check this out.

id software generally makes extremely efficient engines. One of the big parts of this game is getting megatexture implemented correctly, since quake wars wasn't the greatest showcase for the technology. It's called virtual texturing now with id tech 5 [doom 4, rage], and it will become a new industry standard.

    Oh yes I'm crying :ugh:

Why the hell do faggots have to compare everything in such a way?

NBA 2k9 has basketball :eek3: It's just like NBA JAM!

Yeah, you are crying. Why do faggots get their panties in a bunch over the fact I compared one game to another? Why do YO care? I made a simple comment and you attack me over it. Get over it. The RAGE trailer reminded me heavily on Fallout 3, except with a more southern feel, with vehicles, and no RPG elements. How many open world post-apocalyptic games taking place within the US with a first person perspective have come out within the past year?

And all basketball games look the same to me :dunno:.

Yeah, I got a mod like that for FO3, adds several hundred weapons... sounds cool at first until you realize 90% of them are redundant and worthless once you get a half decent one, then your back to using 3-4 different ones.

Eh, sorry I was just irked last night because I got done arguing with people on another board who kept saying it was a Fallout 3 rip-off, when you said nothing of the sort

It's okay :h5: It just looked a lot like Fallout to me. I doubt it's a ripoff though, it's not like Bethesda came up with the idea of a post-apocalyptic shooter.

(This is based off information I heard months ago when details were first trickling out)

Its essentially a hybrid deathmatch racer/fps set in an open world. You are given quests that require you to travel to some spot in said world. Enter the death race, as rebels attempt to hinder your questing. Once you have exploded all the buggies and arrived at your destination it throws you into fps mode as you blast through a temple / building / post-apocolyptic wasteland to find the treasure or what-have-you and complete the quest!

Now doesn't this game sound about ready to rock your fuckng socks off? I know MY dick's hard.

the environments look incredibly realistic, but no matter how good the engine is, if you character modelling sucks, the people won't look good.
