What are you asking for here? A graph showing the light cutoff or what?

    here

    r72 is 720nm cutoff
    r90 is 900nm

red is 630-690nm, but the r72 might let a bit of red pass

cutting anymore than 720 on your 20D is asking for 10 minute exposures :mamoru: :mamoru: :mamoru: :mamoru: :mamoru:

they're already like 5 minutes as it is

Canon's whole lineup is poorly suited for IR work because they have stronger hotmirror filters. That's the filter that sits between CCD and the lens that doens't let IR and UV through, because the CCD is sensitive to them but they'd throw off the normal light pics.

The only way to really do IR work with the 20D/etc. is to remove the glass filter in front of the sensor and replace it with a R72 then adjust the focusing depending on the thickness of the R72 filter.. etc. but then you end up with a dedicated IR filter :wavey:

my friend has a converted D60 that takes like 1/200s exposures at f/8 in daylight :run:

You can put a IR filter on your 20D, it just isn't the practical. You can handhold a D70 w/ IR filter, but w/ a 20D you're stuck w/ having to use a tripod. IMO the best solution, still, is to convert a camera to IR by replacing the glass piece in front of the sensor with a piece of R72 glass. You can compose in camera AND hand hold. The way to go. ;)

ehh with 2 second exposures you still need to use a tripod with the D70, unless is amazingly bright out or you have the worlds most steady hands

Well converting isn't going to happen. I don't mind long exposures, since I would just be doing landscape pictures anyways

Or you can just get a sony f717 or f828 with night vision on you can take infrared pics during the day just like normal pics:
