I wish the honking/starting techniques would have been a little better. Seems the person who is honking or counting down seems to rush that last one, haha.

The GTR is a beast. The C6 ZO6 is a beast. I'd take either in a a heartbeat.

I thought thats what it would look like racing a stock z06, it should have a significant on the roll advantage

oh and lets race a stock car vs a modified one.

I cant imagine how a car with 100+ more hp than another can beat it in a race :ugh:

GTR in video just went to the local strip and did an [email protected], then 2 more [email protected] spinning like a bitch out of the hole.

    Impressive to me.

they are automatic and have launch control, every GTR should run mid 11's.

Arent all GT-R's bone stock and will stay that way because nissan gets pussyhurt when people can make their engines perform better than they can?

GT-R has the advantage out of the hole. AWD + launch controll.

I like how the GT-R creeped ahead of the Z06 at the beginning of every race too.

Both very nice cars, but I dont like being locked down by my automaker.

That's the only thing that would bother me about the car. And it's to the point where I'd pass on buying one, too. I don't see why they don't support the aftermarket and make their new GTR even more impressive than it is.

It was hyped up to run mid 11s.
Not even close. All they tell you is they are not going to warranty a perfectly tuned engine with parts they manufactured if you replace their parts with non-OEM parts. I'll bet if you brought a Z06 or Cobra in for repairs and it had a new supercharger, headers, exhaust system, ECU, etc, they'd tell you that the repairs are on your dime.

Perfectly rational move by a manufacturer.

In order for a car manufacturer to turn down warranty claims on a vehicle is to prove that the modifications you did caused the issue.

But, where the issue is is the ECU, which Nissan tried to make untunnable. Well upon researching the subject, it's been hacked.

except the GTR's engineers have specifically tuned the ECU in order to not allow modification of any part of the car

doesn't it go haywire if you remove the standard wheels?

Read the GTR boards. Several of them have been totally modified, tuned, reprogrammed etc already. Yeah they ditched the warranty but apparently don't care.

As for the wheels, some people have gotten codes thrown because the pressure sensors are in the factory wheels. Haven't read enough about aftermarket wheels to find out what the solution is.

I dont plan on doing much, if any, to mine. If I wanted to lose a ton of money making a car fast, i'd not start out spending a ton of money on one that runs 11s and has a 5 year warranty already. I'd buy a stock MKIV or something and dump 40 grand into it. Still, there are alot of people already shelling out major bucks for upgrades to the GTR.

yeah but you know what people are like, and you can't argue the point that nissan has made it very difficult to modify this car. Nothing an aftermarket ECU can't fix though.

I rode in a GTR and thought it was pretty fast, isn't that the important thing...that and turning heads. I'm quite sure that a GTR will garner MUCH more attention than most any Vette.

I know that's what I care about. I always buy a car based on what other people will think of my car.

Apples to apples. ZR1 > GTR if you want to compare the high dollar/high HP units. Both turn heads though, I'll give them that.

I can spot a Z06/ZR-1 like an Ethiopian can a donut.

I will glance at a GT-R and not notice it. Same goes with the R8 now that there are just as many of them cruising around campus as Z06's.
