I know the obvious differences in spec etc... but I'd like to know in everyones experience what they think of the two in context of each other.

    :wiggle:

(i have an 'opportunity' to get a gtt)

Many differences between the 2 cars ranging from body panels to interior instruments, RWD vs AWD, neo RB25 vs neo RB26, brakes, gearbox rims etc as you know

The GTR is an awesome car, but they dont like to be daily driven, and you will spend as much maintaining it as you do modifying it. Other than that, the only real flaw is AWD understeer, however corner exit acceleration is awesome. oh and the gertrag can break easily.

The GTT while not as potent as the GTR is still a great machine, responds well to modifications, and doesnt cost as much to maintain as a GTR, its good as a daily driver, however it guzzles fuel, as expected with any straight 6 turbo. Rear wheel makes it more unforgiving, and will teach you how to drive properly, if you dont know already.

The GTT ought to be a good bit cheaper to buy outright as well. I wouldn't be surprised if GT-Rs are appreciating a bit in value(heard R32s were). That can make an R34 GT-R pricey or just plain out of reach.

If you get the GTT,, you'll probably get 70%(maybe more) of the fun of the GT-R for much less hassle.

yes its got RWD biased AWD, with a 50/50 torque split

its king of the road most of the time

no, the torque split is very rarely 50/50

its a rwd car with a hydraulic clutch pack to send torque to the front, the ecu (abs/atessa) determines how much

technically it can do a 50/50 split although rarely does

650 hp sure, in a RWD its not problem

    on the street, no.

EDIT:unless you launch it at 6000+

on the track when you are shifting every gear at redline, then it becomes a problem

:ugh: ever seen the mines r34 videos?

that still runs the getrag afaik

the only problem you get from high rpm shifting is synchro related, nothing to do with awd

jap tuning shops never release the full details on the setups of their demo cars. Besides that, when they break boxes, they simply replace them, no questions asked, no dramas. however AFAIK as well it is still running a Gertrag.

So if a gearbox has to send power to both the rear and the front it wont be under more stress?

Coming from personal experience with R32's I would say (not knowing the total differences between the 32 and 34 models) that the GTR would be the "better" "more fun" choice. GTT's are not bad cars do not get me wrong, I'd love to own either of them and it'll be fast regardless of which you get. The GTR has more functions, better LSD (afaik) and has 4 wheel steering aswell as 4wd. When it comes to 32's the GTT equivalents would be around 4000 cheaper (comparing good model to good model) from the GTR. Honestly, the GTR's would have more problems/maintanence than any lower trim.

well, a friend of mine has a r32 gtr with a getrag in it, its primarily a circuit car with some drag use, hes running over [email protected] wheels and hasnt broken it yet.

400kw on a circuit GTR? nice. is it a 2.6 or stroked?

Im am basing my comments on a 34 GTR with 2530's thats purely a circuit car...puts out 350kw atw..it blew third gear

400wkw out of a 2.6 sounds a bit laggy...not ideal for circuit..I guess your friend must keep the revs high.

    too much abuse.

haha you can blow a 32/33 style box with 250rwkw and hard launching

....afaik HICAS is what controls the 4wheel steering is it not? GTST's have no rear wheel steering... not sure if they control awd aswell... am I wrong? :noes:
