Depends on what you do. When I was going to school at UCSB, they had a quitting smoking program at the health center, and I got patches or gum or whatever for free through the lady.

If you go to school, check at your school for quitting smoking programs. If you are in the working world, check your workplace for a quitting smoking program. Good luck, I'll probably be trying to join you come New Years.

the patch is for wannabes and bitches.

The idea is getting the nicotine out of your system.

Cold Turkey is, and has allways been the best method for quiting. The patches are there just to take your money.

I started smoking a pack of Black & Milds instead of cigs. By the 2nd week I was down to one a day and then the addiction just went away.

I have been a smoker for a very long time. I have tried, and failed, to quit many times.:sadwavey: I am currently on my 17 day without a cigarette.:bigthumb: This is the longest I have ever gone without smoking at least one. I am on Zyban which does a very good job of eliminating the physical craving, but the toughest one to break is the mental side of the addiction. This is the first time I am really committed to quiting. I have a number of reasons that are very important to me, I am not doing this for someone else this time. When I crave a cigarette, I go for a walk around the building (inside or out depending on the weather). I have walked over 5 miles in a single day. Not so much any more, but I still do a lot of walking. The key is making sure you are committed to quiting. If you are doing it for someone else, it will never work. And yes, I believe the Zyban is helping. I will make it this time. I have lost far too much (more than money and health) and am at a critical turning point where I may have already lost something very important to me. Don't wait until it is too late. Good luck.:x:
