i went to costco and bought a huge carton of chewing gum, i think that if i can give my mouth something to do, i wont feel like buying another pack of smokes, hopefully my severe oral fixation will be satisfied by that.
    wish me luck :hs:

Good luck. Throw away all your lighters, make sure you have someone you can call when you feel like smoking (preferrably someone who has also quit at some point in their life).

if it feels like it sucks in a way you wouldn't have predicted, then its going correctly. Think about how you were able to make it x amount of minutes without needing a cigarette. The cravings are a small, but annoying part of the process. They do pass and the majority of your time will not be spent craving a cigarette.

i broke yesterday, but i didnt buy a pack. my one roommate and i have a deal now, as soon as the other roommate moves out (4 days), we are going to quit, and she is going to put her b/f's balls in the vice to get him to quit too.
and she is going on lupron because of her disease, so its going to be a few weeks of very tense emotions in this house (lupron has a tendancy to turn you into a raging bitch)

bet some money on it, oh and you can't make other people quit smoking ... ever, that won't work on her boyfriend. Sounds like it might not be a good time for her to quit though.

just quit smoking and be done with it. it sucks and is hard for everyone but you just gotta do it or don't do it, you pick, anything in between is giving yourself an excuse to cheat and take a puff.

    good luck

Ah shit, too bad man. FWIW, it took me several times before it stuck. I quit the same way, except w/o the gum.

The next four days would be good prep time to cut back a bit maybe.

I remember my wife was really unsupportive...she would blow smoke in my face and shit

I smoked for 2 years and managed to quit by smoking cigars + nicotine patches.

I quit cold turkey for a good like 3 years then recently started again.

So gl on you quitting, and listen to the advice, get rid of anything that's in the process of smoking, so lighters etc like someone said before, ya should be fine.

And tell ur friends ur quitting, me and 2 of my roomates helped our 4th roomate stop smoking via punches and...nm, just punches(1 hard punch for a cigarette). Hopefully you won't have to go through the same thing if u start struggling.

i had to quit smoking straight out. i think the toughness of quitting is overrated. i went from over a pack a day to zero, for the reazon of returning home froma monthlong stay in europe. during withdrawals, i just felt sick and wanted to die basically..but had no real cravings for cigarettes. its psychological.

about 2 weeks ago i went 5 days without smoking...then my stress got soo high that their was no other choice but to smoke it was the only thing that could get me by. if i didnt have my smokes i would be in a coma or something from the stress and anxiety i was going through. as a result i am still smoking and cant find a way to quit, i guess its kind of my "escape" from everything which i know is a cop out. but as of right now i cant find anything better to get me through troubled times.

Failures happen, I can attest to that. Just fiight it. It's your greatest enemy, so fight it. Don't give in, dont surrender...even when you're angry...fight it. Beat that "need" into a bloody pulp. You might try and fail again, but never give up. You can beat it, you got this, yo. Understand what I'm saying. You are far more powerful. You can beat this.

The Easy Way To Stop Smoking
You honestly *do* want to quit smoking. You've tried everything... patches, pills, artificial cigarettes, fancy filters, gums, mints, books, tapes, and *shudder* even "cold turkey".... and yet you *still* go back to smoking every doggone time. You might already be starting to cough a lot, or perhaps you are getting sick of smelling like an old stale ashtray, or maybe your family and friends are complaining about your smoking. Most of all *you* truly want to quit... you just need some real help. Sadly, your significant other or your child might be begging you to stop.... It's gut-wrenching. It's all heartbreaking enough, and then that eventual day comes when your doctor tells you that you have to quit or die... you just want to scream! Nobody understands how hard it really has been for you when you've tried and tried in vain to quit smoking in the past.... and especially if they have never smoked! Visit us to find out more.

I smoked cigarettes for 11 years. GOt up to two and a half packs a day. Marlboro's.

I finally decided I had enough and had attempted quitting many times and failed miserably each time.

then one day someone gave me this book. Now you're gonna think I'm crazy but I read this book....and I simply quit.

Others may have heard of it since it's pretty famous and highly venerated and it appears "pmenard's " used it too.

It's called, Allen Carr's Easyway to Stop Smoking.

Sounds gay I know.....but it works......millions have quit from that book.

Cost me $15 to quit smoking for the rest of my life. I've been clean over two years now.

You can find it on Amazon or even Barnes & Noble.

None of the usual scare tactics or any of the other BS.

Read the book.....and thank me later.

Oh yeah...forget nicorrette gum or anything else that attempts to weanyou off of tobacco products. They simply do not work. Yes there are those who have quit from the use of products such as Nicorette and the like but......just read the book. It breaks it all down for you.

I have smoked for a VERY long time. I tried many, many times (and failed) to quit in the past. I am currently on day 17 without a cigarette. I am on Welbrutin (same as Zyban), which is helping take care of the physical cravings. I will make it this time because I am committed and have reasons that are extremely important to ME. I have lost a lot because of cigarettes (not just money and health), and do not want to loss any more. I go for walks when I feel the need for a cigarette. It has helped by taking me away from my desk at work, which is one of the reasons I would go for a smoke. Stop before it is too late and you have lost something very important to you. I wish you luck. :x:
