Just gave my boss my one month notice today so it is official

June 17th will be my last day working in Michigan

I will be in Austin for about a month

no job yet, but I am getting unemployment (thank you mr vice president for being a nice guy and laying me off in these troubled times)

I will be looking for an administrative assistant type job or anything with drafting and design as well

  4. oh my, you dont have a job lined up yet in austin?
are you staying w/ someone or on your own?

cousin for a month, then roommate and bf are coming down

unemployment is enough for me to live on, and apartments accept it as proof of income

    Good luck.

I've been to Austin once (for a National OT meat) and it was awesome!!!

  14. the bonham is this club down here. its the biggest gay club in san antonio. i know a lot of ppl that drive all the way from austin just to come here, so i figured it was better than a lot of the clubs in austin, but im not sure.
its three rooms. one lounge, one top 40 w/ half naked dancers, and one techno/hi nrg room. its pretty cool. it is usually packed tho, standing room only, line around the corner to get in kind of thing.
    free cover b4 1030
    $5 after that for 21+
    20something for 18-21 i think tho

  15. at any rate, im down there maybe once every two weeks.. i can give u a tour lol

The Bonham is a gay club but its not really a "gay club," at least, it didn't feel like that the one time I went there (I'm from SA too!)

I think people just go because they play really good music

OMG lol is he talking about Splash??

and some other good clubs are OCH (kinda trashy) on 4th and Rain (much better) also on 4th... they're actually like right next to each other

I also like Red Fez, Apple Bar (gayish), Cielo, but it still says Sky Lounge (Latin) aaaand Copa which is a salsa/merengue/bachata dance place!

I did a similar move back in January. I moved from So Calif all the way to just west of Boston. In my case I left my last job willingly to take a way better job in a related industry. I have never been more that 20-30 minutes from friends and family before, so that part is kind of strange.

So far for me the hardest part is not having may friends outside of work to hang out with. It makes the weekends seem very long and boreing and I always look forward to going back to work on Monday mornings. I love the job and wouldnt trade it for anything, so thats a huge plus. In about a year or two I think I may relocate back out to the west somewhere, but definately not Calif. My job allows for working from where ever I want.

Your moving with a bf, and also have family, so I think you will be good to go.

    on a side note...

here is another huge reason I want to move...

lucky...although i'll say I love michigan in the summer! Also, as much as you hate Michigan, theres no place like it if you've grown up here. Being in NYC, school, or anywhere else for weeks at a time has made me really think about if I could actually move away forever. I can't stay away as much as I want to. I love the atmosphere here in Detroit, as shitty of a city it is, the pride there is among people is not like other citys. People love saying they are from Detroit and they are proud of it. Yes the state is crumbling, but we'll be back!

Plus RO/Bham are both super homo spots

    MID MAY?!?!

While its pleasant in Austin right now, June and July will DEFINITELY be scorching! Bring lots of shorts and t-shirts

Also, the city almost always gets close to shutting down because the temperature drops below 60 and ice forms :rofl:

Then thats why...if you've grown up in metro D you realize there is really nothing like it....in all the places ive lived for 1 - 2 months, none have ever felt like home. Maybe its because I was alone but still, when I get back to Detroit I just feel so much more....home? Sommerset, comerica park, lakes, TC, MSU
