Yeah, i've got quicktime 7, OS 10.3.9, and i cant play any .avi movies. Is there any alternative player that is free? It says that quicktime is missing some software, but it might be avaible online, then it pulls up the quicktime 3rd party software page.
Is there a speical plug-in i need to download to play .avis in quicktime? Or any other programs i can use?

    Thanks guys
    Peter

I could try converting it to mp4, what programs can i use for that?

go here and look for VLC. It's one of the best media players for OSX.

    lmao.
VLC owned my G3. It barely plays it, and it skips frames a ton, and gets behind and i get a message about the skipping. I cant have another single program running.
Are there any others out there?

I'm guessing that avi is encoded, so search google for divx, xvid, 3vix, and the ac3 codec (and use QT 7.0.1 or 7.0)

Download them all to be sure, and search google for the downgrader from 7.0.3 to 7.0.1, because the ac3 codes doesnt currently support the newest QT version.
