Can the body process (read: eliminate or use) trans fats like it does for the other three (mono, poly and sats) ?

I'd assume it is able to eliminate it over time. But since I'm not sure, I'm in for answer.

That's what I surmised as well, but my googling attempts have failed to provide any clear answer. I turn to the wisdom of OT for one... :x:

I'm not sure about the question... Do you think it vanishes in outer space ? Of course our body has to process it, but it has a different effect on the body when compared to the other types of fat.

Those are my questions: IF the body processes trans fat (as opposed to just letting it accumulate until you croak), HOW does it do so? At WHAT RATE? WHAT KIND OF EFFECT does it have on the body?

By the way, if you don't know the answer to my question, please don't come in my thread with the equivalent of ad hominems. I can get your kind of response from offtopic at any time of the day if such is my desire.

Well, I think that you need to be a little more independent if you want to be such a pretentious asshole.
    Try this : http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/...ractplus&dopt=pubmed_pubmed&from_uid=15051604
    and this :

hydrogenating fat makes it more stable; it's what makes margarine solid at almost room temperatures. because it is more stable, it is harder to break down, but not impossible, otherwise 70% of the population would be morbidly obese...

    oh, wait...

I see nothing "assholish" from my previous comment: I was merely stating the obvious. As for being independent? True, but I didn't have much success in finding the information I was seeking: almost every link I visited contained very general information that I either already knew or was irrelevant to my questions. I suppose I could've been clearer.

Thanks to all who took the time to contribute. :)
