My friend has a Pioneer TS-WX80BP 8in sub/bandpass box that he said he'd sell to me for $30. (Specs) He doesn't use it and the plastic part of the box is chipped which is why it's so cheap.

I'm thinking about picking a ~400 watt max/~200 watt RMS amplifier in case I want to upgrade the speaker. Would that much power blow the 8in?

And it's best to go with a 2-channel bridgeable amp, no?

More than likely that much power would blow and 8" sub. To be honest, I think your money is better spend elsewhere.

Well, for $30 it sounds like a good deal to me. How much of the "plastic part" is chipped away? What amplifier are you thinking about buying though? 200 watts should be fine for the speaker, but you will want to watch the volume knob, because if played at full output for hours on end, you would probably destroy it.
