i went to the range for the first time and tried two gunsl, the bereta 92 9mm and the sig 226 9mm, i loved the looks of the 92 and the safety system, the ambidextrous switches, but i found i was more accurate with the sig and liked the feel of the gun more, i was wondering whats up with the lever near the trigger, is that supposed to be the safety system? I don't quite understand how it works.

Yep, decocking lever. Manual safeties, phht. Who needs em.

    I'd take a 226 over a 92 any day.

    :werd: I haven't shot a 226 yet, but I did shoot a 92 and I didn't like it at all. I dunno why, I just couldn't get into it.

Someone should probably explain to you how the gun works and how to operate it safely before you shoot it.

    Seriously.

We got a pretty good lecture on safety before hand since it was our first time, the guy who was working their was also a cop. I just didnt grasp whether or not the lever was an actual safety mechanism.

oh yeah thanks for your replies :bigthumb:

the lever right above the trigger, is the takedown lever, the next one back is the decocker, and the lever farthest back is the slide stop.

I just picked up a P228 yesterday, and I can't wait to shoot it. I've shot one once, and was hooked, and it was more accurate than my Glocks. SIG's are superior firearms. My next pistol will be a Beretta 92 Inox, I held one at the shop yesterday when picking up my SIG, and I can't wait to own one, it's such a sexy gun.

a lot of people like the DAK trigger... the first pull is always DA while the subsequent pulls are SA, if you dont release the trigger too far.

    I have a Sig 226 ST and a 92F. IMHO, it's Sig or nothing.
