I was asked to create a portfolio for some one i dont know she wants to become a model. I have done multiple photoshoots for friends for free but i was wondering how much i should charge her? should I do a flat fee or an hourly fee?

She wants some pretty basic photos, im thinking some with a white backdrop and some with a balckdrop depending on the outfits she chooses. Any advice greatly appreciated.

EDIT: The shoot is in 3 weeks, I wil post pictures afterwards for critique.

If you don't know her, how are you planning on doing this?

If you do it like I bill my computer consulting, $120 to show up (includes first hour) then $75/hr after the first hour. Then show her the proofs and charge your cost per print (I charge my cost for equipment).

I guess I just said $120 if the shoot takes 1hr, $195 if it takes 2hrs, $270 for 3hrs, etc....

I agree... but don't charge her your cost for prints... you need to make a little on those as well...

It's absolutely worth $140, most people don't know how far below market their fees are. :hs:

thanks for all your input guys, we discussed what she wanted and we came to an agreement of 150 for 1st hour then 50 per after the 1st. this includes printing. I know i should have charged per print aswell but i want to get my foot in the door so im starting off light.

its not bad, with 10-15 edited prints(that what she wanted. I didnt want to scare her off by telling her 10 bucks per print aswell

When you're just starting out, it's best to work out a flat fee for all the work to be done. Much simpler.

  24. I had a short clip doing a awd doughnuts in my gsx a few years back, I cheated though because the road was wet and alittle icy. Don't have the vid anymore but with any luck it could be floating around in the DSM crowd still. Poppoff might have seen it before since he's a DSM guy. :hs: :dunno:
