How far do you guys drop your bar on bench presses? I generally drop it to the point where it's hitting my chest; I was told the other day this is bad for your shoulders?

drop it about 2 inches and hold it there for 2 seconds and then drop it another 2 inches and hold it there for 5 seconds. that's one rep.

Or do you mean how far down on your chest (i.e., how close to your neck vs. how close to your navel)?
