I live on 3 wooded acres, outside of that it's pretty much a residential neighborhood. I don't have a concealed carry license.

Can I open carry on my own property?

I'm not sure about FL law, but open carry is legal in many US states. Check with local law.

Open carry is not necessarily your only or best option. You don't need a CWL to CCW on your own property in FL, just make sure you don't leave your property.

In MO you don't need a license of any sort to open carry.

    Interesting.

meh, too much attention and if I'm inattentive, than someone could blindside me and take my side arm. Weapon retention is very important. There have been a lot of shootings in louisiana coming from guns stolen off people who CCW/OC in Texas :o

3 wooded acres outside of any city limits? Hell, I wouldn't just be open carrying, I'd be out shooting in my back yard.

I'd love to (when I returned from my last trip to the range, my 6 y/o son asked "why don't you built a shooting range in our yard?"), but outside my yard is not wooded, and lots of houses and such. One stray round would be very bad, plus I'd probably have the cops at my door for the noise within an hour.

There is not statute that says it must be out of view of the public.

You can carry it on your own property, but if you live within the city limits it could be illegal to actually shoot it (assuming you want to carry it for snakes and such, if you're carrying solely for SD then you should be alright).

With that said, just get a CWL.

Sorry I'm not up to date on TX laws. Point still remains the same because there are a lot of people who CC in Texas and there have been a lot of stolen guns from Texas being recovered here. This was told to me by a state trooper who works in New Orleans :o

Also, I'd still argue that weapon retention is important.

It is a good thing they don't make holsters with retention
