Talking about everything in general, but more towards curls I guess.
What percent of your max should you be curling/lifting?

For example: I lift a 35lbs for curls and do 12 reps in sets of 3, each arm. I can finish each set but I'm tired on the last few reps. If I go up 5 more lbs, I can't really do it.
My buddy lifts 45lbs, but I think it's way over his weight. First 'set' he'll do like 8 with the right arm, and 6 w/ the left. Next 'set' will be 4 then 2 or something.

Which way is correct? I think my way is, but what % of your max should you lift on each lift? Also, you should be finishing each arm and set as well, shouldn't you?

Also, could someone post, pm me, or link me to Christopher's routine? Thanks.

    I must have missed something...perhaps?

It goes for everything....he'll nearly max on one machine and do 8 reps, then go back in a little bit and do 4. He also has no routine, just skips around to whatever he feels like....pretty much.

Sorry, but this is the place to ask rather than hurt myself if it is infact. Also, it was a little disagreement, so I thought I'd ask. Sorry for wasting your time and the OT bandwidth.

    And thanks Ceaze.

Don't talk about curls or you will just get flamed, everyone just assumes if you bring up curls, then you're probably just doing "beach body" excercises. Curls are kind of the preferred lift for all the jokers at the gym.

What you're doing is fine though, just pick a weight that you have difficulty with at the end of the set. Doing 2-4 reps on something like curls is stupid.

Ok, sorry, and thanks for the heads up. Not hear often to know about the curls and beach body crap. C'mon, I live in MN! Anyways, I have a birth defect where doing curls is actually helpful (isolates each arm so they have to do the same amount of work). Otherwise if I use a machine one will do more work than the other, I do use flat bars though....but I'm a lifting noob...no more curls mentioned from me.

First, forget everything you've learned in the gym and get a new partner, or no partner at all.

    Second, read the stickies.

    Third, delete thread.
