Been playing around with it for a while and have formed some opinions.

    Pros:
    ------
Spring loaded, easy to tap and get a sight, I imagine thats good in a stress situation.
Cheap. I've spent $600 on an optic for this rifle that is supposed to be pretty reliable. Sinking another $130 on a rear sight that I'll probably never use seems excessive.

    Cons:
    ------
The big knob on the side slightly obstructs the right side of the charging handle. The troy rear is narrower and stays out of the way.
Clicks are kind of mushy and indistinct to me, the troy easily wins here again.
The troy sight deploys with the large aperture by default. To set the magpul to do so you need to click the small aperture up leaving it more exposed and I imagine more prone to breakage.
I don't have a measuring device handy but I think the small aperture on the troy may be smaller than the small on the magpul.

Overall though I'm satisfied. Not perfect but on a budget backup optic they're fine. I think if I was going to use it as a primary sight for any length of time though I'd go with the troy. If anyone wants a troy rear for $115 shipped let me know :big grin:

The happy ups man completed my lower of my next build today. Heard that cmmg has discontinued their light weight barrels though so thats a wrench in my plans.

The instructions specially say not to or it'll melt. How long that takes probably depends on your gun and how hot you get it.

for the price, there are no cons. I love my 2 sets, and maybe they won't last forever, but I think they are pretty good

I think the biggest complaint I've heard about them is snapping due to overtorquing them.

Grant spews a fair amount of BS on M4Carbine, enough to make me never want to buy anything from them.

If someboy sends me one I'll put one on my AR. If I can't melt it in a 3 gun match I know nobody here is going to unless they shoot class 3's

If we get WMDers to chip in $30, I'll get one out to you.

I doubt they well melt. My buddy has a set on his M16 and they are still fine.
