I need to save the service packs for win2k and security updates , so that I can burn them elsewhere and then install on my home machine, IE is corrupted and won't allow me to browse and transfer information online, and that rules out downloading them at home... or anywhere else I take the computer.. HELP!

You can always get them from the microsoft site on CD. I think they charge you 10 bucks or so. I don't have time to find the link but I know I have ordered them before. It sounds like if IE is really as corrupted as you say then downloading service packs and updates won't fix that. You need to reinstall IE.

I think SP4 should be good enough to get you going again anyway. But man, save yourself some agony and get your stuff off of there and reinstall. My bet this isn't going to solve your problem - at best it will solve an obvious symptom.

You wiped everything off your HD and started from scratch or you reinstalled over the previous installation?
