Just kind of gives an insight into what training is like on an every day basis.

The way he takes the back I can't help you with.

The way he chokes is grapping the opposite lapel with your arm and 'rolling' onto an angle away from him, kinda like your setting up for an armbar. When i do this i like to push of the hips to get that angle. Royce Gracie did it to Minoki Ishihara in UFC 2 or 3, and he sets it up nicely from the mount iirc.

    hope that helped.

I didn't know you trained under Camarillo, Brian? You do? I thought you were Gracie Barra or something..

I've had some seminars with him. He's awesome.

My names Collin. Dave started doing some classes here in my town a while ago. Great guy, super technical instruction, very happy with the change.

Mother fucker, I knew that. I was looking at dude above you.

Yeah, Dave is a fucking GREAT instructor. I've taken 2 of his seminars - good stuff. I don't play in judo much but his stuff makes it much more bearable/tolerable..

That's cool that you are under him now. What gym are you at? He trains at AKA and where else?

Theres a MT gym here in town that he teaches nights at on his way home from AKA. I train with a club of guys a couple days a week here as well, and (if i can squeeze it) at a MMA place (I only do the BJJ) in Fremont. I like to get at least 5 sessions a week in, but life gets in the way sometimes. :hs:

Are you training at all right now, or the wife got you busy doing chores around the house? :mamoru:

    I'm a busy guy.

And yes, I'm training regularly. Joined a great academy and enjoying BJJ a lot right now. Really found a "family" rather than just guys who want to train. My game is good - we have a really diverse group of guys so I see a lot of different styles.

There was some guy who came to our Gym this past week in Chicago name John. White guy, got his brown belt from Dave Camarillo, speaks fluent Portuguese. He seems to be a good friend of my instructor, Andre Negao. John was a pretty cool guy, knew his stuff, instructive.

CA, Bay area I think. I have no clue if he's trained in MN. Why, you know a white guy with a brown belt who speaks damn good Portuguese too? :run:

There is a Camarillo school here in Minneapolis and also in the Yay Area..

There are a LOT of white guys who speak Portuguese at my academy.. Probably 10+, couple white girls too.. (read: not Camarillo academy)

Man, do they teach Portuguese after bjj classes or something? :eek3: I wish I knew fluent Portuguese. I know this John is heading to Brazil next week to train, but that's all I remember of him. Very thin/lean, somewhat tall. Those details probably don't help at all
