Hey guys, I've been out of the pc building game for like 6 years. My desktop's agp card just shit out (gforce 4400) I can get a cheap agp for like 50 bucks, but I was thinking about starting fresh.

I know my hardware is old, IDE hard drives drives ect and now there is SATA and shit.
I don't know where to start.

Can you guys give me some suggestions.

    Thanks

You might as well build a new machine.

First things to consider: your budget & what you plan on using your PC for.
From there, you can start building a box.

Basic web stuff, and maybe light gaming and video editing. I guess I'm looking at all new hardware? Ideally I'd like to spend under 400, but I don't know if I can do that if I have to build a whole new box.

:ugh: To use ANY new technology, you are going to spend that on add-on cards just to get I/O ports in your PC, PLUS the cost of the equipment you want. Buy all new and be done with it.

Who cares. Zeff is baller. Spec him a $10,000 machine and he'll spend the night building it instead of fucking some hot roadie. :h5:

    398,67 after rebates.

    CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Brisbane 2.6GHz
    Mem: Crucial 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
    Mobo: MSI K9N2GM-FD AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 8200
    HD: SAMSUNG SpinPoint T Series HD501LJ 500GB
    Case: RAIDMAX xB ATX-528B
    PSU: Thermaltake TR2 W0070RUC 430W
    DVDb:ASUS 20X DVD±R DVD Burner
    Monitor:SAMSUNG 933BW High Glossy Black 19"
Keyboard: Logitech Value 100 Black PS/2 Standard Keyboard
Mouse: Logitech 3 Buttons 1 x Wheel USB Wired Optical

best I can do for <400, included monitor, mouse,KB if you don't need those there might be some room for improvements. Onboard gfx but is alot faster then your old 4400, overall it should be a lot faster then your 6y old PC tough.
