I am a PC user but I really like Powerbook and I am seriously thinking about getting a mac (probably Powerbook) next time I get a computer.

There are many pirated copies of softwares for PC and lots of PC users don't pay for certain programs.

Is it same for Mac users? Did you buy all your programs?

My concern with switching to Mac is that I might not be able to use some Adobe programs - Photoshop, Pagemaker...etc- on Mac. And I am not sure if I can afford to buy those programs and spend hundreds of dollars.

Adobe is pretty fully committed to apple as a platform (though apple's recent foray into video editing, etc. is beginning to erode some of adobe's core products on both the mac and PC side :mamoru: ) Anyway you'll have no trouble finding the main apps you need on the Mac, and if you know where to look *cough* IRC *cough* you'll find warez too :o Actually I'd say the Mac warez community is tighter-knit than PC ones and you're less likely to get owned by a bad image, virus, etc. :dunno:

    don't steal though :o

I know but can't really afford to spend hundreds of dollars for programs -photoshop, pagemakers,livemotion..etc0 that I already have for PC...

So there is a way to find or "borrow" some programs for MAC eh?

I have had good luck in the past with calling manufacturers when I switched platforms and getting their sales departments to give me a price break (upgrade pricing usually) on software that I already owned for the other platform.

i know people who work the BSA and they are constantly surfing boards looking for info on where to track down pirating. Don't give out the info so freely.
