    Hi all-
Last night I put my new PB to sleep, and it cut off all my torrents and booted me off aim. Is there a way to put the computer to sleep and not cut internet activity?

nope, sleep mode does exactly what you said

if you are asking to be able to close your lid without it going to sleep, get a program called SLEEPLESS

Ok can I just make the screen go black without making it sleep?

You can't change that setting without a 3rd party app? :hsugh:

no, but it's for good reason -- the keyboard / palmrests are a natural heat sink / avenue of convection while the machine is on. Leaving the lid closed while the internals are running retains a lot of heat and could potentially get the internals of the book to harmful levels. I wouldn't do it if it were my PB, I'd just dim the screen.

    While I think that's a fabulous idea, I just think it's lame. :)

Any other laptop on the planet can be shut w/o forcing sleep mode...I do it all the time at work as I'm moving from meeting to meeting...oh well, no point in arguing over it! Thanks for the info.

    no...ibooks cant do it :fawk:

also, every other laptop in the world is no where near as nice, or perfoms as well as an apple laptop

when the thing is ON, it works amazingly, so deal with the minimal sleep thing, its worth it
