Questions about blown speakers

    I'm not really sure if blown speakers still produce any sound.

    I think my sub is blown, it makes a rattling noise. Its a RE12, the fuse on the amp blew out and after replacing them, the sub just rattles.

    And the driver side of my front components produce a whine that goes with the alternator. And it will "pop" loudly when I turn on or off the car. Is this a wiring issue or is the speakers blown as well?

    I'm thinking about getting a sub at Best Buy with the protection plan just to avoid further headaches with blown subs. Good idea?
