First off, I have shot an AR a few times so I am not completely newb at this. (a friend of mine has a Bushmaster)

I have been fond of ARs for a long time and have always wished to have one. Lately it seems a little bit more plausible/ necessary before obama is possibly elected. I would be getting this as a range gun.

Also if I were to purchase an AR I have an ideal type in mind. The Smith and Wesson MP15T is just about perfect for what I would want in style and appearance. I love the flat top with the flip up sights and the fuller length rails on it. But I have heard that the S&W are over priced and just a Stag Arms AR. In looking at various AR sites I cant seem to find something comparable to the MP15T. am I just looking in the wrong places or does a comparable one exist?

I have been reading this area of the forum a lot lately following many of the AR threads, especially those talking about possible bans and have some questions.

What is going to possibly be banned?
    Pistol grip weapons?
High capacity magazines (what does qualify as high capacity)?
    Shotguns?!?
    What else

Most of what I have read about the S&Ws and the ones I have handled have seemed really nice for what you get. The T and the X are a lot of rifle for the money in my opinion.

Stay on your congressman's ass about voting against possible bans and they won't happen. The President can't make laws out of thin air.

Let me rephrase, he's not "supposed" to have that much power. I tend to think in terms of the Constitution, not the abortion we have on capitol hill today.

Selling US milsurp to the civilian market was by Clinton.

Using executive orders to legislate from the executive branch is :greddy:

so how much did you pay for it all if you dont mind my asking.
also what were the specific parts from LMT and CMMG.
BTW while it seems CMMG products are so so from some of the ramblings i have seen on here i feel more prone to liking them because they are roughly 20 minutes away from me.

Words cannot express how much I hate the look of a gun covered in rails. :o

Personally I would built it myself if I were you. You don't need any special tools etc... to really do a "mostly built".

It's like one of those snap piece model cars. The most you'll need, if you have a complete upper plus or minus rails or guards, some punches are only needed.

i would rather be able to build it myself because then it would be more mine anyway. i would know more about it. and i have seen how easy it is to take them apart.

as for the rails, i dont know why i like the look so much but i do. seems like it has more function to it.
