Alright this is probably some simple shit that you're going to link me to that was a first result of google or something like that, however I have searched and cannot find it. Also, this might strike you as a "stupid question" somehow, but I have heard TWO different answers, and one was from a first sergeant and one was from a group of specialists. I am in the national guard in unit 1644 transportation company. Company, I think it is 1844 is deploying in a few years. First sergeant told me that "they will bug you to deply with them, but you aren't required to deploy with anybody besides 1644 trans. co.". A few moments later I spoke with a few specialists and they laughed like this was the dumbest thing they had ever heard. They said "you can be automatically deployed with any unit around here if you havn't been deployed in a certain time period. since you havn't been deployed, you're most likely going with 1844 in a few years when they go". What's the deal? Reason I want to know? Simply because I was dumb and didn't think of the negatives about going to war while in college. Also, I wasn't considering officer at the time of enlistment. Now, I want to go to ROTC, but that will be in three years after I graduate the community college I'm going to. I can't make it into a uni that has ROTC unless I graduate a community college because I have too low of GPA from HS (1.8, lol). I did however miraculously get a gt of 110 and a 71 on asvab, which quals for officer! So, when I graduate comm college and transfer going to ROTC, I don't want to be deployed until AFTER rotc because I will forget everything I was taught in college. I hop this makes sense.
