Can someone tell me the PROS and CONS of Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) and a Roth IRA?

Which one is better? I noticed that TSP is now offering "L Funds" which match your time of retirement.

I need some guidance on these investments.

Did they approve contribution matching on the TSP for military members?

No, what I meant by "matching" is they have tailored the Lifestyle Funds (L Funds) to reflect your retirement date.. so they require little to no maintenance on your part.

Then the TSP is still nothing more than a savings account. Not worth the effort. Mutual funds, IRA, and bonds are a better choice if you are working towards retirement.

You really should consult a financial planner about this. No one can tell you what is best for you here in teh Barracks.
One good thing is that if you choose one, you have done something. Either of the options is better than just letting your money go to waste.
