Just got it. Tried to backup my movie. It reads the entire movie then goes to step two prompting you to load a blank DVD. I used a Memorex DVD-R but it won't seem to read it. I tried another DVD-R but the same thing happens. Do the DVD-R's have to be formatted first or am I using the wrong disks? My computer is a Dell and it cam from the factory with a DVD RW.

    Help...Must burn...;)

Are the disks rated comparable to the burner?

Well, i'm not sure. I didn't get much info on the drive because it came with the computer. Something tells me I should try a RW +/- disk since it's a RW drive. I don't know.

My Dell Laptop only Burns on DVD+R or DVD+RW media. Maybe give that a try

If you have nero you can look at the drive properties and it will show you what formats it can burn. or look the the device manager in windows and post what the make and model it shows there.

    Fixed.

Sounds like you are using wrong format media. Check and see what format your drive uses, and grab the right media. Most likely DVD+R
