I had a friend at work and he brought his macbook in for me to change the memory sticks, well when I pulled out the old sticks, they were covered in this white dust. I'm concerned that the rest of the inside of the macbook could be dirty as well. I offered to clean it but he wants to have it done by apple. Its under warranty.

My question is: if he takes it to an apple store, will they clean the inside?

    Nah nothing to worry about.

Apple coats all RAM connections on the MacBooks with a white paste.. It's a lubricant that helps seat the RAM.

If you need some references you can search google for "macbook memory white paste" it will come back with lots of results.

    edit** here's the apple document
