Anyone have one? Ive wanted a revolver for the longest time but just have no had the cash to spend. I found someone who is willing to trade his for my Walther P22. Any thoughts?

  2. What do you want to do with it? Is it to be a carry gun? I don't know what the practical difference between the shrouded hammer style gun like the 638 is vs. the more commonly carried 642 and 442, but the J frames are great carry guns. I don't like the P22s, so I'd make the trade without hesitation if I were you.

EDIT: A quick search reveals that a shrouded hammer like you find on the 638 has a small area where you can access the hammer, allowing you to cock it manually and fire it as a single action. The enclosed hammer (642, 442, etc...) can only be fired double action.

I have my Glock 23 for my carry gun but i like the idea of having a smaller revolver that can fit in my pocket. The 22 was great at first but now has lost its appeal.

  4. Go for it then. I love my J frame as a carry gun.

I have one. I like it. It's a Jframe with a hump and a touch of hammer exposed. Definitely worth a P22 IMO.

I have a 637, which I believe is basically the same only with a fully exposed hammer.

    I'd go for it.

friend of mine has a 638 and i've shot it a few times. the little bit of hammer that is exposed so you can shoot SA is nice.

that + all the other pros of a j-frame = win :dunno:
