you would need a dvd making sort of program

unless your dvd player can play whatever file type you have, then you can just burn it as data and watch it like that

It's not easy. Since the subtitles in most fansubs are part of the video stream, they will end up getting cut off. Your PC's media player displays the full video, while the TV ends up cropping off the edges. :sad2:

    DVD santa, but it sucks

your best bet would be as follows:
    0) go to the xbox modding thread and read whatever youve gotta do
    1) buy an old xbox
    2) mod said xbox
    3) install Xbox Media Center
    4) If you dont have a router, use a crossover cable between your computer and the xbox, if you do have a router just connect with an ethernet cable
    5) voila! now you have YOUR VERY OWN COMMAND CENTER! with this you can do many unthinkable things like, watch porn on your tv, play SNES roms, the whole shebang clap.gif

the only draw-back to watching animes on an xbox is that you cant watch all HD episodes of certain things

XBMC makes things so much easier. The only thing is, it tends to have trouble with .mkv's. Or is that just me?

or get a phillips dvp (dvd) [it's what i use] player and just burn the avi straight to dvdr
of course there will be some that won't play because some use a different codec when subbing the episodes

but there are other dvd players that will play avi/mpeg for less than $100
