Do you carry +1 or not?
I suck at math, so it's easier for me to anticipate reloads if they come every 13rds consistantly.
i carry mine with a barrel plug, for extra safety
can never be too safe!
Haha.. good reason
Just wondering what other's do. My father inlaw refuses to, while I only do it certain times (if I'm riding my cycle to work I'll keep one in, but driving the car I won't).
why would you carry if you had to rack it if you needed to use it in a heartbeat?
Why would you not? Do some google research and you'll find the infamous FBI tests. You will not rack your slide in time.
You both are idiots then
Why's that? Is it more likely to go off by itself when you're in your car or something?
Always 1 in the pipe. I tried to put two in there but there isn't enough room.
Just jam one bullet in the barrel, then chamber a loaded round behind it. When you shoot it it'll be like a shotgun effect with the 2 bullets coming out. It doubles your chance of hitting the target.
To clarify, it is loaded (Condition 2), I just don't top off the mag after charging it.
It would be very rare that I have or would carry Cond 3.
So what happens if you're carrying without one in the pipe and you need to use your weak hand to:
open a door/call 911/push someone out of the way/hold off the attacker while you get your gun/hold the gun because your strong hand is injured/11ty billion other things you might need a free hand for
Not to mention you won't be able to rack it in TIME to stop a threat, sometimes you wont be able to rack it at ALL because your other hand will be occupied. Fuck that, I will always carry +1 - what's the point, otherwise? Keep your finger off the trigger and you'll be fine.
Yes. What's the fucking point of carrying if it's not ready to rock. If you get into a situation where you need your weapon, you are NOT going to have time to rack that slide.
Wait, you talking chamber loaded? Or topping up the mag after racking a rd?
I always keep the chamber loaded, ALWAYS! I also top off all my mags, except for a few new G19 mags, that tend to rattle with 15 rds in, but not with 14.
I'm always loaded with as much as it'll carry. No point in carrying without one in the chamber, IMO. Follow the 4 simple rules of firearm safety and you'll have nothing to worry about.
I always carry with a round chambered but... have you not been taught how to work the slide one handed?
As a civilian, 99% of the time you are drawing your weapon, you are already at least two steps behind the curve. If you need your gun, you will need it rather urgently.
It's one thing to have to compensate for an injury in a sustained fight. It's another to have to compensate to even have a chance of getting your first shot off when you're trying to catch up on the days activities.
Did you not see where I said I always carry with a round chambered?
I was asking p-chan a simple question, not for someone to rehash AGAIN why you need to carry with a round chambered.
relax. the way you stated it, it sounded like you didn't carry chambered.
I did, but your wording sounded like suggesting it may not be ill-considered to carry Cond 3.
that easier to understand?
Yeah, I'm only very successful if I have a hard ledge to rack against or if I'm wearing jeans I can do it on my pocket. It's not something I've gotten very good at.
+5 in my j frame
