Question for you Carb Counters

    Do you guys count the dietary fiber in your daily allowance...whether it be 100, 150, or whatever your own number may be....or do you subtract out the fiber since its a differnt type of carb.

    I'm going to start paying more attention to my carbs, and I've been on atkins years ago and you subtract them, just wondering if its the same thing for someone who is going to just try to pay more attention to them.

    carb is a carb in my book, although some are better than others :)

    In general, I subtract the fiber.

    dietary fiber isn't digestible (iirc), so that gets subtracted (does it even have a caloric value?)

    Technically yes- but it's maybe 1-1.5 cals per if I'm remembering correctly.

    so you guys usually eat 100 carbs and subtract all the fibers out....that doesn't seem to hard.

    question again....how many carbs do you recommend for a 290lb 6'4 dude. I was going through my kitchen and trying to add up what I normally eat to see where its at, but it varies so much on what I eat for dinner. My lunch at work is usually always almost identical, its my dinner that changes a bunch. One day it will be whole wheat pasta and the next could be turkey dogs and baked potatos.

    Depends on your goals.

    I subtract the fiber.

    But I don't subtract the sugar alcohols.
