When i am trying to get an explosive push up for the jerk in a clean & jerk, i get a weakening sharp pain in the locations show below in red:

It does not necessarily feel like muscular pain to me, although it makes it fairly difficult to get an explosive movement and obviously is a problem..

If i do military presses slowly i have no problem whatsoever, it is only apparent when trying to explode...

Have tried long warmup periods for the shoulder, extended warmups with small weight building up etc, but i am curious as to what it could be..

It does tend to get slightly better as the session goes along, but as i get fatigued it means i am less explosive also as the session goes along..

I had this problem a few months ago, but it did seem to go away for the most part and didnt give me any issues until just recently this week (first training session after my first competition) so perhaps it is just joints/tendons recovering?

You definatly want to get a good stretch in before and after. If it doesnt get better you might want to take a break or see a doctor.

Is that the same side as your painful shoulder?

Wow.. Oddly enough I have a similiar dull pain in the same spot on shoulder day. I don't do this oly lift, but even on front and side raises I feel it in/near my lat.. and not on any other day..

the pain is actually on both sides in equal amounts..

my other shoulder issue has not really been much of a problem although it has tweaked a bit here and there..

imagine you have your hands in snatch grip, and have say 300kg holding over your head.. the weight itself as it pushes down your arms, underneath you scaps it feels as though that is where all of the stress is going..

my coach and i have been trying all sorts of warmups, stretching etc but no success as yet.. initially wethought it was a teres issue so did some work on that but as i said, it did go away for a few months only to return after the comp on the weekend
