    question for all you experts

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=uSNvEpH2L1o

i did that leg press thing today
8x 2 plates on each side
8x 3 plates on each side
5x 4 plates on each side

i stopped on the fifth because it felt like my head was going to explode.. was i not breathing right or what the fuck?

and before anyone calls :bsflag: i went down all the way and touched the safety pins each time, my knees were touching my chest

Breathe out when you are doing the pressing part. Inhale on the way down.

depends on what you are doing, sometimes you don't want to exhale and lose your core strength (belt) or body structure

does your team not have a strength coach or something? or are you not required to lift together?

you want to breathe out while meeting resistance and breath in while reseting for the next rep.

However, I've notice that when doing heavy squats and DL's, i tend to hold my breath until the top of the rep.... for some reason I feel more comfortable this way, so that's what I do... if I start getting dizzy from it or something like that then I'll make an effort to correct it.

In addition to you holding your breath the leg press machine itself may be causing the pressure to build up. What is probably happening is the angle of the seat is causing all the weight to load on your body in such a manner that its causing a drastic increase in pressure.

We have a leg press up at the gym that if I load more the 8plates (total) on it I come close to blacking out. Not from the weight because at the point it's a piece of cake but for some reason my blood pressure sky rockets and I start to get tunnel vision.

I also find that by going a wider stance puts less pressure on your diaphragm when you're going deeper and this relieves the pressure.
