I've been writing a three-part car story for about the last year and a half. The first dealt with mostly Japanese imports, and the second focused on Domestics. Now I'm working on the third, which features European cars.

I wanted to know what you guys thought of the lineup I have so far. I've tried to have a diverse range, but let me know what I'm missing. For starters, I know there aren't any Swedish cars, and there's only one VW.

    *Disclaimer*
This story is about racing, but not all of the cars listed actually race. Some are there pretty much for eye candy, just because I wanted to include them.

    *Disclaimer 2*
The reason for so many Porsches is because there is a group of owners in the story. One of the member owns two cars.

Ditto for the Astons. One character owns all three.

    Aston Martin

What about Alpha Romeo, Opel, and for Audi...the TT. All these companies are very successful in the euro touring car racing.

I probably should have mentioned this before, but this story takes place in the US. Texas, to be more precise. Not many Alphas or Opels around. :hs: I know there were some sold in the US a long time ago. Are there any good ones I could use?

I didn't want to sound too 'bandwagon' with a TT, especially a street driven one. I was worried enough with the 360M as it is.

For merc do something AMG or Carlsson both are much deeper than Brabus.

What does Carlsson have to offer? Their site is in German, and I can't read it.

I was really impressed with the Brabus' 734lb-ft when I read about it in evo.

It's also in english scroll to the bottom click > [IMG] :hsugh:

Carlsson has a long history with racing.

The AMG SL65 1000nm-tq is much more impressive than Brabus.

For Ferrari you might also want to include the Enzo (although not raced that I know of) and the 575M Maranello (there is a well backed team that races these in ALMS or World Speed Challenge).

Okay, I'll check out Carlsson. The SL65 wasn't out yet when I started writing last fall. :o

    Aren't 1000nm and 730-something lb-ft pretty close? :hs:

I guess you'd have to read to understand why I wanted the more powerful(than Carlsson anyway) Brabus. The owner wants to race the owner of the AM Vantage LM(lightened and modified to ~670hp). The Brabus already has a bit of a disadvantage with 640hp, and the Carlsson probably couldn't cut it. :hs:

Way 2Fast and way 2Bandwagon. I've already got too many rich people running around as it is. How about a 456GT?

This racing also happens on the street, for the most part. There's some autocross, and I might throw in a road rally, too.

    Maserati.

MC12 (Ferrari Enzo in drag, way cooler).

More realistically what about the Renault Sport Clio V6 255. Mid-engined hatchback, rare and very cool.

Maybe a 4200GT. That'd be cool. The MC12 is much too new, and who knows if it'll even be sold in the US. :dunno:

Not sold in the US. :nono: It's 'predecessor,' the R5 Turbo 2, was. It's an MR layout hatch like the Clio V6, but it's got a turbocharged I4, and is probably even more rare. I gotta have some old school, too. That's why the Mini and Beetle I have are the original models.

There are some cars I have that aren't readily available in the US, but I want to keep the number of those cars down.

    :werd:

That's why I've got the AM DB5 and Vantage, the Renault R5 Turbo 2, the Porsche 930 Slantnose and 912 'RSR,' and original Beetle and Mini. I'm not trying to be cutting edge, but rather show some of the best that Europe had to offer, regardless of when the car was produced.

I was thinking about a Morgan Aero 8, but I ended up going for the TVR Tuscan instead.

I was going to have a modded S1 Exige(close enough, right?), but ended up using the Noble instead. Already had a Lotus in the form of the Esprit, so I wanted to give some exposure to another brand.

I wouldn't mind replacing the 360M with one of those.

What's the RS? Is it like the 2.7 RS? I kinda have one already, and the owner tried to convert it to RSR spec, with some more modern technology added.

I know where I could put the 550 Spyder. The owner of the 2.7 RS and the 928 GT runs a Porsche specialist shop. The 550 could be one of the cars in the garage that is being worked on. :dunno:

I have no idea where I could put the rest. :sad2:

The Dahlback car is a pretty extreme one-off...but it is pretty cool.

I was thinking of having the R32 included in the group of old-school rally cars(the Cossies, Lancia Delta Integrale, and the Audi Sport Quattro), but it doesn't really fit in. For one thing, it's not a rally car, and it's also too new. I think maybe I could use it in the place of the Corrado, though.

I love those...but they aren't available in the US. :sad2: I actually wish we'd get that here instead of the Pontiac Solstice. Could've been badged as a Fiero or something.

Anyway, this story takes place in Texas. There's some high-level machinery here, but having one in addition to the rather unobtainable cars I already have(ex: Tuscan, the Cossies, Lancias, etc), it might be a bit of a stretch.

Ditto. The current Alfas are so cool. I'd love to see even a 147 GTA here.

I think maybe I'll go with a GTO instead of that 360M. The Modena is a bit too new/bandwagon for my tastes. Maybe the GTO driver(who would actually race) can just have a friend with a 360M.

My last trip to Europe, I was able to drive my friends VX220. The nice thing about his is that it was upgraded to at T3T04 turbo, intercooler and a custom made chiller around the intercooler [ice box with copper lines around all the pluming]. The only thing I had to get use to is the right hand driving. By far, it was lighting fast compared to what we have here. Any who... best of luck on the paper.

I have to admit, the Alpine is tempting. It's sort of a French 911, when you think about it...which is fitting because the R5 would be facing off with the Porsche group.

This is actually a story that I hope to get published once I'm done. Parts 1 & 2 are pretty much finished. If anyone wants to read those and get a feel for what I'll be doing with this Euro-themed 3rd installment, let me know.

The Audi RS2. It was created in the early 90's when Audi and Porsche teamed up to build, essentially, a Carrera you could carry groceries in. It's only available as an Avant, has lots of Porsche parts. DELICIOUS. Anyway, look into the RS2. Rare, and downright pretty for a wagon.

Oh yeah, almost forgot about that one. Those are very nice. I almost wish I could use it instead of the S4, but it isn't really that character's style. Hmm, I dunno what to do about that one. :sad2:

How are you incorporating all of these cars into a story?

It's kinda hard, actually. :hs: It took a while to get to where I am now. I started back in September, and I'm only about half finished. :o

The first car to appear is the E46 M3, which is in a short race.

Next is a new supporting character named Alec, and a race with his AM Vantage LM. He's a rich guy from the UK with a garage full of cars. I made sure to show his garage in the story, since it would let me include more cars, even if they weren't featured in a race. He only races two of his cars, the Aston Martin Vantage LM, and the Noble M12 GTO 3R. However, I already have an AM DB5 and Vanquish, a Lotus Esprit, and an Audi Sport Quattro. I guess I could add a couple more. :dunno:

After the race with the AM Vantage, I introduce Klaus, the main antagonist. He's a dude from Germany with extensive Nordshleife seat time, including the 24 enduro. He drives the 993 GT2. I show him meet at a Porsche tuning shop with the rest of his friends, the Porsche Laufende Gruppe(Porsche Running Group), and introduce them and their cars:
    Gunnar: Cayenne Turbo
    Gennady: 912 2.8 RSR Replica, 928 GT
    Kevin: 914/6
    Lance: 996 C4S
    Jasmine: 930 Slantnose, VW Beetle

As you can see, two members own two cars each, and I plan to add some cars sitting in the working bays at the shop. This is another trick to fit more cars in.

Another character, an Indian named Ajay, drives the Brabus.

I also have Angus, a Scottish guy, show up in the Ford Escort Cosworth. When he races, he brings a group of friends with him, including Alec. That's where the Ford Sierra Cosworth, Lancia Delta Integrale, and Audi Sport Quattro come in. Another trick, see?

One of the main characters stops at a gas station or something. He runs into a snob in a Ferrari, and they decide to have a quick race. I just got the idea to give him a couple friends. That way, I can include more Ferraris.

I could go on, but you get the idea, right? :wiggle:
