Now that the first major plateau has hit and newb losses have ended, what can I expect.

I started in late november @ 6'1" around 230lbs (fat, no muscle). With diet, cardio and lifting I am now 194, but results are coming much more slowly. In fact I barely see them.

My goal was that within 1 year I wanted to be free of 'jiggle.' I wanted to be able to look in the mirror and see tight skin everywhere. My arms/back/shoulders/chest are pretty solid, and my legs have thinned out (went from 38 to 34 or even 32 waist), but I still have a flabby belly and love handles, some thigh fat and a bit of a fatty butt. I have no idea how I will meet my goal in just over 4 months time.

Do I need to keep going like I am and just learn more patience, or do I need to reach within myself and find some more intensity? I lift 3 times a week and do cardio of some kind 4-5 times a week, diet is very clean (could probably be tweaked but still low calorie).

    Thanks!:hsd:

On lifting days, 30 minutes of either interval on an eliptical or a stationary bike.

On non-lifting days, 45 min + of jogging, minimum 4 miles, trying to get to 6 at the moment.

    I went from 230 to 165 and have maintained 165 for a while, 6'3"

To get through my plateus I just changed it up. Swapped one food out for another or did some different excersize. For me, cutting out bread, pasta, rice helped, but so did increasing my breakfast sizes and reducing my dinner serving size. I consume twice the calories at breakfast than I do at dinner, it used to be the other way around.

Oh and I eat cottage cheese like it's going out of fashion.

Keep on increasing the caloric deficit as your body adapts...

Thanks - right now my dinner is definitely larger than breakfast. I'll see about changing that.

And :werd: on cottage cheese. I do that now.

you're assuming he dieted correctly by decreasing his maintenance by 150 or 200 for the first period of weight loss.. if not, could be harmful advice and send his metabolism further down.

what's your calorie intake/day right now threadstarter?

Can you explain what you are talking about further?

Do you mean that he might have done it wrong by not going below maintenance at the beginning? He wouldn't have lost much of anything is he did that...

im 6'1 around 260lbs but ive been active my whole life, played a year of college football before i blew my knew and quit. Then i gained ton of weight while losing all the muscle i had, balooned up to 295 and formed a belly with love handles.

Im trying to get down to 220 with a solid body but i dont think i will be able to get rid of my belly without surgery :(

For a while i was about 1900 calories a day, sometimes less. I've done better, eating around 2300-2500 a day, some days better than others, some days (weekends) I might goback below 2000.

That being said, I haven't calculated maintenance in a while. Maybe I'll pull out the old calorie king, do some calculations and refocus my diet. I don't think I'm gaining calories, but maybe some logging will reveal something. :dunno:

well when i underwent my initial transformation (dropped from 180 to 155 while adding muscle), i just trained and ate very strictly and kept at it until i was satisfied with my leanness. then i started the bulking process.

i would try switching something up. maybe changing your workouts or your macronutrient breakdown (add more protein?).

start monitoring your bf% rather than weight at this point. Once I got down to 200lbs(from ~250) i wasn't dropping much weight but my bf% continues to drop.

it's really hard to see change in yourself when you check the mirror everyday.

It's a BMI of 20.5, not even close to underweight which is a BMI less than 18. Before you call bullshit on the BMI, I am perfectly suited to it, not being muscular. My waist is 32 inches.

Besides, you posted in my weightloss thread.
