im a sophmore in college right now, almost done with first semester. ive been lifting a bit more than a year and my big three right now are b/s/d 240/290/315

i train very hard and and am very strict with diet and alcohol. i also think i have good genetics. how hard and how long do you think it would take to get to 315/405+/405+ b/s/d ?

what type of program would i follow, and could i do this without the typical fat gain that most PLers have?

i know of bill starrs routine and frequently recomend it to my friends seeking to gain mass. i also have heard of westside but have not looked into it too much

Most powerlifters gain fat because that's the easiest way to get stronger in a short period of time. You don't have to go that way unless you want to.

How tall are you and how much do you weigh right now?

Don't go the route I went and start doing "westside" stuff at this point. Stick to either a bill starr style or upper/lower routine focusing on compound movements.

Do you have abs, the last pictures I remember seeing of you were no where near 11%.

But I dont think Westside is right for you. From a Training Template book on EFS "Bob Young's Beginner Program" was desgined for a person who had a 1450 total, and it was a Beginner Program

I hear its a mininum of a 475 deadlift to do westside or you get zero gains from it :dunno:

Ok guys, LISTEN up!! When you write down your lifts, THEY ALWAYS GO IN THIS ORDER:

    SQUAT
    BENCH
    DEADLIFT

ALSO, WHY IN THE FUCK DO PEOPLE THINK THAT ALL POWERLIFTERS PUT ON TONS OF FAT TO GET STRONG??? You guys are killing me.:fawk:

i don't think that's correct. you can get gains from any routine (be it shitty or amazing). most of it depends on your diet....

Westside isn't a good routine for anyone that isn't competitive powerlifter - especially someone who doesn't have a really really strong base and years of training under their belt.

I'm gonna post up a routine in a new thread right now that might be of interest to you

edit: Actually, no I'm not... but read this:

lifting for a year is nothing, most people here think getting strong happens overnight or something and everyone wants to be great right away. it takes a long time and lots of learning.

im not asking to be strong overnight, im asking what a realistic timeframe would be with the right routine/diet

5yrs, you notice one thing common among ever power lifter, bodybuilders, strongman, etc.. They all have been working out for 10+ years.

I mean if they are young they most likely started like Dave Tate at 14, youve got to give it time. Its not going to happen overnight, if you could figure out a way to do it you would be rich.
