What does "in Charlie" mean? There's a perimeter road that runs around the local Air Force base that's usually open to the public, up to a certain point. I was on the road yesterday, going to school and they had the road all closed off. They were turning everyone else around at a checkpoint, but waved me through (presumably because I was driving a police cruiser). I got up to where I was going to turn off onto a public road, but the gate was closed and locked (would have been nice if they told me that, obviously I was just cutting through). I turned back around and asked the guy at the checkpoint how long the gate will be closed. He said that it would be closed as long as they were "in Charlie." Anyone know what that means?
