Hi all, I've got a question about my laptop's wifi situation. I have an older laptop that i like a lot, but one problem; it doesn't have built in wifi. I had a usb wireless adapter, but the thing stuck way out and was pretty crappy. My laptop has an SD slot, and i was looking around and saw that there were SD wireless cards.......... problem is that most of em say that they are for PDA's.

So my question is: Can I use an SD based wi-fi card on my laptop?

    For reference: http://cgi.ebay.com/Spectec-802-11b...0QQihZ008QQcategoryZ45003QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

And are there different SD based wi-fi cards (Sdio) ??? I dont want to mistakenly buy the wrong one.

Thanks for your help all. :)

do you have a PCMCIA or CardBus slot? That would be the prefered way to go.

yup, i've got one, but whenever i put a card into the PCMCIA slot, the computer gets really unstable. I'd actually prefer to use that instead, but because of that problem, i've gotta try a different solution.

Has anyone ever tried using an SD-wifi card???

    Thanks again :)

i would worry about the stability issue, first. Most SD-readers on laptops are run off of the PCMCIA bus, as well.
