Never mind the 'patent-pending matrix' or the 'nutrient complex'....why are 9 out of 10 weight gainer supplements malto-dextrin based?

Malto-Dextrin has high GI levels and treated as sugar once ingested, therefore making fat storage very possible. Is this the 'mass' that is being achieved w/ these malto-based gainers? Why not utilize a low GI source such as oats/barley? Ive only seen a handful of gainers that actually use low GI carbs.

Am i correct in concluding that I dont want my gains from disguised sugar?

    ON Serious Mass - 1250 cals/50 g protein (source-maltodextrin)

    MHP Up Your Mass - 810 cals/ ?? protein (source-oats/barley/oat blend)
