I just started the workout in this thread: http://forums.offtopic.com/showthread.php?t=1574598

For the Friday Squats, is it telling me to do the warmup, and then do the 5x5 just like on Monday? Or am I only doing my 3 rep max on Friday?

With that schedule, would I take Saturday and Sunday off? Is there anything I could possibly add in that weekend? If I took 2 days off in a row, I would feel worthless.

Last question, if I got some protein shake mix, how often should I drink it? I always thought just after a workout, but i read about people drinking 2-3 a day, everyday.

I'll reiterate things that have been already covered.

Warm up to a 3rm on Friday. If you work hard, 3 days will be more than enough. I drink 2 protein shakes a day (one post-workout, one before bed).

I have no experience with the Bill Starr routine..

..but I drink protein shakes typically 3 times a day.. 4 servings. One serving for mid-morning meal, one serving for mid-afternoon meal, then two servings pwo.

Heres the recipe I use for my protein shakes:

    1 Scoop Chocolate Protein
1/2 Cup Oatmeal (old fashioned type)
A big ass glob of natural peanut butter
    1 Banana
    ~1 cup milk
    some ice

I usually have one of those a day, every day. On days I work out, I'll have one sometime throughout the day, and another after I work out. Sometimes I'll switch it up and use a container of yogurt instead of a banana.

You're starting a good program. I haven't been doing it for very long now, but I am making steady progress with it. good luck

Yeah you do 3 reps, progressively adding weight until you're 5lbs over your heaviest set on Monday.

I don't think you need to do 3 reps per warmup. My understanding (and practice) is that you can do more or less as you see fit.

I usually do more of the lighter weights...

Peanut butter pretty much dominates any type of shake that you put it in to, but i'm in love with peanut butter
