so i just started the anabolic diet created by Dr. DiPasquale. im sure somee of you have heard of it. basically it involves eating high fat and high protein (mostly red meat) during the week with less than 30 grams of carbs per weekday. on the weekends you basically carb-load.

this may seem like a stupid question but ive always had the impression that your body uses proteins for energy when it doesnt have a supply of carbs, but dr. dipasquale attests that when carbs arent present your body begins using the supply of fats ur giviing it as energy.

longest i ever lasted on low carb was 5 days. I would crash at 3, push for two more days, then eat a pizza.

Isn't that the ketosis diet without the carb loading weekends?

Ketosis isnt necessary for the anabolic diet.

DiPasquale recommends more fat than a typical CKD would contain,

Don't sweat the small shit. Make sure you're macro breakdown has you at 50-60% of calories from fat, the rest from protein, no added carb sources, and you're golden.

If the percentages are based off calories and not grams, it will seem high. Fat is easier consumed than you think. (nuts, avalcodos...etc.)

if you ate a 2000 calorie diet and had just 2 tablespoons of peanut butter with every meal you'd have 50% fat, not hard at all.

im now into week 3 of the anabolic diet. I tweaked it a little bit so i am only doing one day of carb loading but i don't really crash at all. not having carbs is tough sometimes but other than that ive been doingg well eatingg steak, ground beef, chicken, and salmon, and tons of greens. ive dropped 8 lbs so far. im around 230-235 rightt now and want to drop down to just over 200

If you're dropping back on the two day carb load (which I did also), I'd recommend throwing in a 1/2 carb day on weds. Follow it like you would normally, but after your workout on weds, finish off the night as if it were a carb load with 300-400g of carbs and try to keep fats low. I found this helped a ton with my recovery.
